Folder Template Default

I searched, but I didn't see exactly what I was looking for . . . here's my problem/question:

Problem: every time I create a new folder, the default is "Music and Pictures" - so I have to manually change the folder properties to "All Items" . . .

Question: is there a way to permanently set the default for a new folder to be "All Items"?

The type of new folder you create in Windows Explorer will, at the time of creation, depend on which section it's set up in. In other words, if it's set up in Documents, it will initially be created as a Document type folder. But, you can then go into Windows Explorer, Properties, Customize, and under "Use this folder type as a template," open the drop-down menu to select the default setting (including "All items") for all future folders created in Documents. Same for Music, Pictures, etc. You can also check the little box below the menu to apply the same default setting to all sub-folders as well.

Imperfect1, I'm not sure but I think you just repeated in a more detailed way what I wrote as my "problem." I want to know if I can set the default to always be "All Items" when creating a folder without having to keep changing the folder properties.

Example: Right click on your desktop, point to new then folder, and for me (by default) the folder template used by Windows to create the folder is for "Music and Pictures" . . . I would like it to always be "All Items" without having to change the folder properties every time I create it.

The answer is, that you will have to make the customization ONCE for each type of folder (Documents, Music, Pictures, etc), but after that, the change becomes your DEFAULT for all FUTURE folders and subfolders. I guess you needed to read a little more carefully, because the difference was subtle: The change is made in Windows Explorer. INITIALLY, when you first create the folder, the default folder type is determined by its location (i.e. folder created in Music will initially be a music type folder), but you change the default, by going into the new folder's Properties, Customize, and under "Use this folder type as a template," open the drop-down menu to select "All items" as the default setting for all future folders created in that section. You will have to make this change one time for each of the different folder types, but once done, you shouldn't ever have to do it again.

The problem you may be having, is that even though this new default setting is supposed to be permanent, perhaps for whatever reason, your system is not saving the setting. That's a completely different problem.

It works fine (so simple a caveman could do it). Strange that it didn't before. I think the thing that helped was to reset the folders first, then customize it, then apply it to all folders and now when I create a new folder it's the way I want it.

Thanks.
