Picture Problems!!!

I have always ordered my pictures in the order I want in individual folders within my picture folder. Like for example, all my pictures with just my oldest daughter, would be in just the MaKenzi folder. If it was her and her sister, it would be in the Kelsi and MaKenzi folder. And then I would have them labeled from Kelsi and MaKenzi (1), ...(2), ...(3), etc. Never had a problem with XP:D, always put them in the date order with some help with some pictures I got from other camera's.

When I got my new laptop, I tried my same old methods, and come to find out, it won't do it. I get all the pictures in the order I want, select all, click the VERY FIRST ONE to rename it (ie: MaKenzi (1)) then when I hit enter, it take a few seconds and then BAM!!! They are all out of whack and not in order and not labeled correctly!:mad::mad:

I'm tired of Vista, but I don't have the money to get Window's 7 and I cannot find a damn XP disc, nor do I know how to uninstall an OS and install a new OS.

So, is there any PICTURE GURU out there that can help me with my problem? The problem, I want my pictures to stay put when I order then and then name them. Simple, I don't understand why Vista has to be a  about it.

Thanks a bunch in advance!

To Sort Alphabetically: Click the down-arrow 6just to the right of the word “Name” in the header, OR double-click in the column header to re-set the alphabetical order: clicking twice at the head of the name column ( Starts at A to Z --- Z to A --- A to Z ) sets them in order.
