Solved AMYUNI 2.51 pdf driver and Invoice and Estimates PRO - printer and pdf issues solved

I am hopeful this helps someone now or in the future who is going through what I just went through.

Problem: Instaforms Invoice and Estimate Pro version 2.0 running on Vista 64. I downloaded the patch from the developer Nova Development to make the application operable on Vista. It updates the PDF converter and its driver. But, you may be frustrated that you can not produce pdf or use the email function. Here are the solutions (Finally!)

SOLUTION:

1. First make sure that you have the latest ADOBE version
2. Second, go to the control panel and open up the printer section (labeled printers and faxes in classic view)
3. Right click on the pdf printer ( in this case it is "I&E Printer") and click properties
4. On the ADVANCED tab you will see a drop down menu for the drivers. Make sure that it is selected to AMYUNI DOCUMENT CONVERTER 2.51
5. On the ADVANCED tab make sure the you uncheck the SPOOL button and check the 'Priint directly to the printer' button
6. On the PORTS tab (this is the most important one and gave me the relief I needed!)
Either select the already created LOCAL PORT named 'NUL:' and hit apply. If this port does not exist click create new port, select LOCAL PORT and name it 'NUL:'

This will enable you to create PDF and use email.

Hi,

I have tried to follow your instructions for resolving the errors on Invoice and Estimates Pro - but without success!! Arghhhhhh!!

I have the latest version of Adobe - as it installed updates last night. When locating the pdf printer (PageManager PDF Writer in my case) I have made the necessary changes as stated and created a new local port named NUL.

However when trying to email invoices I am still faced with 3 error messages:-

"could not configure PDF driver (error code 8)"
"output.exe has stopped working"

Any suggestions on how I can fix this!!!

Ok - I think I can help but need to ask some questions.

1. Are you on Vista 64 bit?
2. Are you using Invoice and Estimates Pro Version 2.0
3. You said pagemanager was your pdf writer. If you are using the above mentioned it should be listed in your printer/faxes area as "I&E Pro PDF Converter"

Lets start there and I will stay logged in to try and help. I spent a LOT of time trouble shooting this and it would give me great satisfaction to save you any time if possible.

PS - if the above is not jiving with your settings please tell me what OS you are using, What application you are using and what driver is listed in the advanced tab of the pdf converter you are trying to use (btw - I dont believe it should be listed as a 'writer' but rather a converter...I could be wrong on that.)

Hi Bill,

I am using Vista Ultimate and Invoice and Estimates Pro Version 2.0 and the only thing listed in the Printers section of the Control Panel, that is remotely connected to PDF is PageManager PDF Writer!

Forgot to say that the driver listed in the advanced tab is PageManager PDF Writer.

Quick question did you download the patch from nova website Nova Development Home Page This might be part of the problem. You go to website, click support, updates and look up product and there is a patch to make it operable on Vista. I really dont understand why your I&E pdf converter is not showing up. This may be a problem specific to Ultimate. The one thing I can say to you with confidence is that you can NOT substitute the converter or driver for this application program and they are not updating the software for newer operating systems.

Another thought is to right click on the icon for I&E Pro and click on the compatbality button and choose an earlier os. Then run as administrator and see if that helps. Lastly you may want to consider reloading the software to see if the proper pdf converter shows up on the printer section of the control panel - this is your main problem so far...you NEED the I&E pdf converter to even start troubleshooting.
