Can someone please tell me how to set my display from Personalization. When I choose a picture for my desktop background it will change but when I shut down my laptop and reboot the picture has changed back to whatever Windows Vista wants it to be. Thanks for the help.

Welcome,

Right click on desktop

Personalize

Click on current desktop background

Browse

Select the pic that you want

That should be it.

EDIT: I just checked mine. When you select the one that you want, wait about 15 seconds. It goes to another page, before you should return to the desktop.

After I select the picture I want and click OK the new picture goes to the desktop and the Personalization page comes back up. When I shutdown my computer and turn it back on that picture I chose is gone and replaced by another.

Did it ever work?

Is one of the available choices the pic that comes to the desktop?

I want to know where the problem is. Open another account, choose a desktop and then give me the results and the answers to my questions.

I will try my best to help.

Hi seabreez

You are in an account, with a name. You see it when you log in.

Type user account in search. Click on it and set it up as though someone else was going to use the computer. Then see if the desktop works properly. If so, you can use the new user account and forget the old.

We seemed to have miscommunicated. When I refer to a new account I meant a new user account on your computer. I gave you a link with instructions explaining how it should be done. I think that once you make the new user account (make it an administrator account) your problem may be resolved. If it is, you can delete the old account. Once again, be sure to make it an administrator account or you may have problems after you delte the other Administrator account.

Good luck

In the event that you are unsure how to install a new user account, here is one or our excellent tutorials.

The picture that keeps coming up as background is one that I downloaded from Webshots web site. I did make another account but I don't see that it made a difference.

He didn't mean make another account on this forum.

Account's merged. Please do not create another account at Vista Forums.

They meant on your computer. ;)

Kenny may very well be right. If so you can follow his advice or mine and open a new computer user account.

His way would be easier if you can change the default setting quickly, if not mine would be the best solution

I just downloaded that program to see how it works, I have a couple questions,

1) Are you trying to change the wallpaper from the webshots app or Personalize through windows?

2) What settings do you have under the wallpapers tab?

Here's a couple settings I think might help if thats how you want,

The first is to use your own choice not the app.

The second is to keep the one you chose if you do use the webshots app.

Don't know if that solves your problem, just a couple suggestions.
