Printer vs. Vista?

Good Day Folks:

Here is a new one for you all. Up until 2 days ago I was running a Epson CX9400Fax all-in-one with Vista Home Premium on a Dimension E520. I had a paper jam and after clearing it the system seemed to be out of sync with the takeup roll. The paper, on a simple print job, would would roll halfway through and then show a paper jam. I assumed the jam had thrown the timing out. Since it's cheaper to buy a new printer than attempt to have it repaired. I had a new Epson NX415 delivered this morning, set it up and lo and behold it's doing the same thing as the printer I replaced. This shouldn't be a problem with the two different printers. On the other hand, is there anything in the O/S that could be causing this? I'm picking up a replacement printer tomorrow and if the issue still persists, it can only be something in the O/S. Have any problems cropped up after the last updates? I'll keep you posted after I try out another printer.

Regards

Welcome

Use system restore and go back a few days. Make sure it is before the problem started. Unistall the old printer and install the good one. YOu should be good.

Hey richc46:

Got new printer and set it up. This time it's an Epson NX415. Try to print. Same result. Two different printers with same problem. O.K. which app popped a byte? tried System restore and rolled back five days. Still same problem. Getting kinda peeved. Different printers...same problem...has gotta be in O/S. Reinstall O/S. Same thing!!! Change out USB cable (Maybe the connections have switched polarity...How do I know!!)
Go to staples this morning and get a second NX415 and give it a trial run. It works!!! What's the odds on two different machines, purchased 18 months apart, having the identical problem? Tome to buy a lottery ticket.

Best Regards

Powell, I am just glad that it worked out. I was the printers, because the new one worked. I would not be surprised, that with the bad economy, Companies are not making the quality products that they use to, in an attmept to save money.

I know I go out to eat, there are never any more left overs.

Take care my friend and ty for the rep.

Richard:

I clicked you once before reloading the O/S and once after, but I'll gladly click again.

Found out what the problem was: this thing will not print on pre-punched paper. I have a box full of old paper some punched, some not. In the middle of printing, the thing started to give me the paper jam warning. I just happened to notice that thw warning came immediately after a pre-punched paper went through. I tried it both ways and that was the problem. This printer will not print the pre-punched stuff.

Thanks again. And here goes another click.

Guess what Powell, the forum has worked the way it is suppose to. You came with a question and left with an answer. In return, you have helped others with the same problem, when they read your post. In fact, I will use your solution when answering others. So thank you Paul.

Thank you for the rep.
