Solved Problem with Windows Vista Help and Support

I have what amounts to a minor problem with my Help and support, but I would like to find out the cause of the problem (was it something I did) and fix it.

The problem is best illustrated, so I have attached a screen capture of a typical Help and support dialog box. As illustrated, each discussion point has a red X on the selection button (sorry, do not know the proper term for this). Help and Support works fine but the image or icon on each button is gone and only a red X remains.

Anyone know what caused this, and or how to fix it??

Flavius and Brink:

I just completed the registry update suggested in you response. Capture.JPG The attached image is a screen capture of the Windows Vista Help and Support home page. Notice the single remaining red 'x'. I checked several help articles and found no other red 'x's. I can live with just on.

As to the cause of the problem. Help and support was whole when I bought the machine, so this condition occured sometime after that. I use C-cleaner regularly to keep things working smoothly, and have not had any apparent problems. Perhaps I deleted a registry key in one of the cleanup operations. I is sometimes weeks before I need to use help and if a key was deleted I may not have tied it to this. This is just a guess. Thanks again.:)

NOW, CAN YOU HELP ME WITH A SMALL PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING WITH D-LINKS SHAREPORT UTILITY.......JUST KIDDING. I'M OFF TO THE NEXT FORUM.

You're welcome Joseph. Hopefully that one will work soon for you as well.

I have found that it's usually not best to just let registry cleaners delete what it finds automatically. Doing so may result in all sorts of unknown issues. :(
