Permissions problems with Vista/Win7

In the past I've been on numerous forums looking at posts and one of the more common problems I've encountered is people having problems with accessing folders/files, deleting/editing files, or just copy and pasting. It all comes down to a weird scenario where your user account is "inheriting" permissions from another account(or some source unknown, maybe a permission template for user accounts in the registry). Even though you may be an administrator or the only user on the computer you still get problems. The process to solve the problem on numerous occasions is as follows:

1: Right click on the folder/file your trying to edit.
2: Select Properties
3: Click on the Security tab
4: Select 'Advanced'
5: Click on 'Change Permissions'
6: Uncheck the 'Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent' box
7: When prompted to 'Add', 'Remove', or 'Cancel'; select 'Add'
8: Click the 'Apply' button, then 'OK', then 'OK' again.

There! That should solve your file/folder problem and you should be able to do whatever task you wish with that object. If there are any problems or edits that need to be done in this thread just let me know. :D
