Vista Recovery Disk

I have a problem with my Vista Laptop as it wont install Service Packs and other installation problems. I have only the cheap re-install CD that came with the PC so I have downloaded the 120Mb Vista repair disk that will give me the option to "Repair" the installation.
When I boot up from this disk it loads the Files OK ( black screen with white bar travelling across the bottom of screen) then according to the write-up I should then get the Vista Green desktop screen whilst it continues to load.
Unfortunately all I get is a black screen and nothing else. No keys work and the only way out is to press the power switch to reset.
Anyone else had this problem ??

Almost sounds like HHD failure to me. But, lets try this.
...

Easy way is to download a 120MB ISO file

from EasyBCD website. They’ve uploaded a copy of a CD that contains the contents of the “Repair your computer” section of the Windows Vista DVD. You can download Windows Vista Recovery Disc from here. Once you’ve finished downloading, burn Vista_Recovery_Disc.iso with Nero or your favorite disk Sware

and boot up your computer with the CD.
