common shell files

For some odd reasons, after a friend had install a software for me on my computer, I have shell common files icons showing - mostly associated with video or music downloads, copy and/or when making my own video (using either sony vegas or movie maker)...
I think it's a bit bothersome because when I transfer file to thumb drive or cd, I have to make sure the shell files are attached...
Also since then , most video and music files in my music or video folders have added shell files in folder automatically.
Why did that happened and how can I fix the problem???? I can't seem to figure it out on my own!...
....if anyone knows please help as I am not very familiar past knowing what shell common files are for, the rest is unknown as I have never add to mess with it...

Thank you
PS: I know most advance computer users think this is silly question since most people want to see the shell files... :o

Yeah I really want that software... but why can't I hide the shell files???
plus how do know if I need a file or not..a lot of them are .exe files and was taught not mess around too much with especially if I do not know what they are!

I would search for the particular software. Often a program has its own Forum similar to this but just about using that product or that programmer's products. Chances are much higher finding someone who uses that particular software where it is made.

I did go and used that program.. it's actually better than the regular unistalled program from control panel. ...
However I do have to ask again, how do I remove the shell files from showing up everytime I make a copy of a file, download music or video, make a video using either sony vegas or movie maker software... I know it has nothing to do with the software I am using now but it has something to do with the way the registry got updated somhow..don't you think?.. I am just wondering because it is really frustrating and I am sure the solution is just a click away...I read on several forum that a lot of advance computer user were trying to fing the common shell files...I am in the contrary trying to hide them but do not wish to restore my computer as I have installed quite a few things since then..plus I wouldn't know up to when... please if you have any further suggestions, I am open to hear them..thanks a million!

You are asking me about some software you don't know the name of, unless I missed something. Ask your friend what he installed.
