Forgot password stored on eeprom chip

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. My brother's friend was messing around with it and somehow put a password on it and I think it's stored on the eeprom chip since I can't get it to boot to the bios, safe mode, or anything at all. I have tried different generic passwords such as Admin but nothing's working. I see the Dell spash screen when it boots but then goes to a gray screen that says this computer is protected by a password authentication system. You cannot access the data on this computer without the correct password. After you try 3xs it shuts down. He says he doesn't know how he did it or what the password is. I have a friend that has a recovery cd since he has the same laptop, but it won't even boot off of that. I've also tried taking out the CMOS battery for about an hour and it is still wanting the password which makes me believe that the passwords stored on the eeprom chip. Is there anyway to bypass this and fix my computer? I have tried contacting Dell, but get nowhere. They don't understand it will not reformat otherwise I would. Thank you in advance!

It's your Dell and you spoke to Dell and they cant help? Something smells fishy here. How many come here and the first post is trying to crack a password. Replacing a password is not something done "By Accident". Sorry I sound harsh but most people looking to crack a password are doing it because most people protect their laptops with passwords so when it gets "misplaced" no one else can use it.

Look up the info for your Dell model online. See if you can find instructions for clearing the CMOS.

Hope this helps,

Yeah. Dell said since it's within Windows they can't help. All they told me to do was run the recovery cd's and it's not working. I know you don't mean to be harsh. My brother and his friend were messing with my laptop and when I went to go use it again it came up with that message saying I needed a password. I've never put a password on it, and I asked them (my brother and his friend) and they said they were just "messing around" with it and wasn't exactly sure what they did. I just want the password off. I've been trying to research and find a way to get around it and nothings working. I understand most people protect their laptops with passwords, but I don't like having passwords because I tend to forget them. So if I have them, I make sure the site can remember me or I use the same one for everything. I know not smart but that's just why I didn't want one on my laptop.

You might want to rethink that position after this

wait, is it a bios passwword? if so, you might want to take out the bios chip and put it back in again to clear the cmos. but if its within windows (like in the welcome screen) then you can always download a password cracker.

try these: http://sectools.org/crackers.html
