Windows Vista won't remember to open folders full screen

Yes, I have set them by clicking the upper right box, then closed them, then re-opened them.
Yes, I have tried clicking them off at the X and also choosing File>Close Window.

It doesn't even remember for just one session!

This seems to be a common problem this week (there's a similar post below). Have you tried the following: Take your cursor and place it on one of the 4 edges of the window, and manually drag it out to the edge of your screen. Do the same thing for each of the other 3 edges. When you're finished, the window should be the full size of the screen. Shut down, re-boot, and if necessary, shut down and re-boot again. Vista should "remember" the setting after the 1st time, but sometimes it takes a couple of attempts to get it to work.
