Is there a way to recreate the recovery partition??

My laptop crashed, it took several attempts to reboot the OS. I had to use disks from hp--not ones that were made off my computer. It is finally up and running, but i noticed my recovery partition was missing. It said i had 32G total in C drive, Knew that was wrong. I found out i had a lot of unallocated space. I have since expanded the hard drive to one, then created a 12G partition. I have no idea what files need to be on that hard drive, or if it will work as a recovery drive. I still have the disks, but i would like to recreate this partion just in case. Please help.

Since you have the HP disks, why would you want a recovery partition? But what you can do (I did that on my wife's laptop), is to create a partition and store an image in that. That is a lot more practical the day you have to recover. Here is how: http://www.vistax64.com/software/261727-image-your-system-free-macrium.html

I want to recreate it just in case something happens to the disks. Also it took 6 tries with the disks hp sent; each reboot took 6hrs each to install. These disks are just general ones from HP, i don't think they are very compatible with my machine. I already partitioned the hard drive, i just need to know what files to put in there, and if this would do any good? Thanks for the advise, but i'll keep looking.

As I said, the image way is the very easiest and fastest. I just recovered my system from an image (but from an external disk). Took 20 minutes. That would be a little slower with the image on the same disk as the OS partition - but still.
But there is nothing wrong exploring alternatives.
