Solved invalid system disc

Hi guys am new to this website and a complete noob with computers. :D
Every time I turn on my pc I get the error message invalid system disk, Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter

I found this website
support.microsoft.com/kb/128730
which gives out some solution but didnt understand a thing. tried looking manual book (M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard) that didnt help either because am not sure what I should be looking for.

I tried to put the windows vista setup disk, the vista loading bar pop up showed that it was loading. the it seemed to have froze.

I also noticed that when I go into the bios setup menu, in the main section this is how it looks like

Primary IDE Master [none]
Primary IDE Slave [none]
Sata 1 [none]
Sata 2 [none]
Sata 3 [none]
Sata 4 [TSSTCorp CDDVDw]
Sata 5 [none]
Sata 6 [none]

I thought that it should have the name of my hdd in one of the square brakets.

Can anyone help?

Hello omighty,
It looks like the Bios is not recognising the HDD.
Remove all power leads, remove the CMOS battery for ten minutes and try again.
Also, make sure the leads and data cables are attached to the HDD too.
Give this a go and post your results, good luck.

I Remove all power leads, remove the CMOS battery and left it about 15 minutes.
Also, I made sure the leads and data cables are attached to the HDD too.
But it still did not find my hdd.

Maybe you need to set up a bootloader. Try using easybcd, look it up on google.

You could try and flash the Bios, but be warned, it is fraught with danger, you could end up with a paper weight if it went wrong, but that doesn't happen very often, so its got to be worth a go.

Go to your makers site and download the Bios to a USB flash drive.
Follow the makers instructions on how to update your Bios, normally from within the Bios, and there will be an update tool, follow the on screen instructions.

If the drive previously was working and now it's not recognised then it's likely the drive has failed...
Flashing the BIOS would be the last thing to suggest as the machine was previously working properly.

I've seen way too many doorstops and boat anchors created by an incorrect BIOS flash.

Remove the HDD and hook it up in anither working machine connected as slave and see if it's recognised by the BIOS...if not it's the HDD.

slave just means that the slave hard drive isnt the primary hard drive and isnt used to boot with (confirmation?).

Hi guys. Thanks for all your help. I tried the hard drive in another machine and it didnt pick it up. The hard drive is not working at all. Am gonna buy a new one thanks for the help eveyone. :D
