vista sp2. tsst corp cddvdw t6-l632h ata device. neither live nor mastered format nothing works, vista can't format at all, thus making the cd useless.

i tried to update my driver which is of 2006 but windows says it is updated. i uninstalled it and let it reinstall itself -nothing happeen- i did the same thing and added a winaspi32.dll in system 32- nothing, checked for interference from other programs by disabling them - nothing, tried other programs like img burn, infrarecorder still -nothing.

by the way is it needed to format dvd-r before burning and does that formatting needs to be done by windows,

You say you tried Imgburn and the results are "still nothing." What does that mean? The computer sits there and no error message? Something must happen. A whir, a buzz? A flashing light?

it says it completed the burn but there is no data in cd. nero also did that . it even popped out the cd but there was no data. anyways i like to use live file system, so what cud be causing interference? i even reinstalled vista business, it's SP1 but to no avail. if windows cant format then won't those software's like Nero , imgburn work?

In Imgburn Menu Tools=>Settings=>Write Tab, options on the left side about half way down make sure "Lock Volume Exclusive Access" is checked. If another program is trying to use the drive at the same time when Imgburn attempts to burn, it should kick out an error saying some other software is messing with the drive.

The next step branches from that result.

it seems that u can't burn avi files in dvd directly. after using dvdflick (thinking it being something same as nero) i found it burns my avi video by first encoding it in vob format and then uses imgburn.

i was happy but the process has turned my 170mb video into 1.5 gb file . thus no more then 3 files can be fully burned in a 4.3 gb dvd. i have to burn abt 300 of such videos. too much time and money will be wasted.
any way around that?

i am trying to burn my vids in a dvd for storage purpose only. i don't need it to be played in a TV dvd player (has to be playable in another pc though). that is why i liked and used live file system , until it stopped working suddenly ( i was using all these burning programs fruitlessly just for that same effect. i didn't knew the needing of encoding my avi files to dvd format causing increase in size).

So i change my question to why is live file system failing in my computer?

Just use Imgburn. Click on where it says Burn Files Folder to Disc. It won't convert anything. If you have a DVD player that plays .divx, it will play them. It's just a data disc.
