Windows Vista occasionally gets stuck Loading

Hi im new here so im not sure where to post this

Every now and again my Vista just gets stuck on the loading screen (the black screen with the green bars loading) this happens basically one in every 5 or so turn on's. then ill hold this button down to power off, re turn on and usually its fine. it only started happening after a vista update but unfortunately the laptop was out of my possession at the time and has gone past the system restore date. Any ideas how to fix this. I tried a startup repair with my installation disk and it says it detects no errors?

Any advice or help would be appreciated

ive defragged, disc clean uped, virus scanned. disabled all unimportant start up items..its really bugging me as its a work computer

yes the same thing happen to me with some update .when i was bouting i was stock on microsoft black screen .
and i was reading that the bad update happen on fev the 10 .6 or 7 of them .
after about a month of that i could not pass that black screnn so i put in a new drive in .that solved all my problem .

Have a look through the tutorial at the link below to see if you can find an entry in the startup file that may be causing the issue when you boot the PC; be sure to post back to keep us informed; it says Windows 7 but the principle is the same.
