Failure - Security Options - Please Help!?

Hello, My PC is about 2 years old now, I love it! Its a 300Gb Acer Aspire running windows
    vista home premium 32bit.

2 days ago, I was watching some videos online when all of a sudden my internet disconnects, this is normal for my dlink to do that every once in a while, I think its
overheating or something, anyways, usealy when it does that it disables all the usb ports, so this was normal for me, so I restart my pc to get my internet back, but the only difference is this time, I get Bluescreen before the log on screen, it was so fast I couldn't read the error. Anyways it restarted itself and I ran a startup repair, and after that it was fine and I could get back to my desktop, but.....

Everything was going fine, but all of a sudden when I open chrome, my PC froze, I tried clicking everything, nothing..l..I tried Ctrl-Alt-delete....and then the screen went black, and I get a error saying "Failure - Security Options" once I clicked OK, it remained frozen. I rebooted via Power button.

    I did alot of research and no success, heres all the things I tryed;

    Reboot - Nothing
    System Restore - Nothing
    Disabling Superfetch - Still nothing
    Disabling all Services - Nothing
    Disabling windows Defender - Nothing
Uninstalling all antivirus crap - Nothing!?
    Check Disk - Nope
    Memory restore - Uh uh
examining SATA Hard disk cables - Nothing to unusual

And im pretty sure thats about all I tried. I don't really want to go and buy a new hard drive because there too darn expensive and I have a lot of important files on my current one.

Please does anyone have a solution?? this is driving me crazy and I really want to save my pc. please help! it will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Ps Buying a new hard drive would be my last option if NOTHING works (Im going to try everything else first)

    Welcome,

Not much to go on. I found this old theread with additional threads listed toward the bottom. There is no definitive solution. I think it may be time to try to restore to factory specs. It will be like the day you bought the computer, programs and all will be gone. Read the thread, wait for other answers and decide. I will be glad to help with any course of action that suits you.

failure - security options logon process has failed to create dial

Although tired in the thread, above; a repair install may be appropriate, too.

Hope you find a solution, but just about everything that can be used to remedy the situation has been tried already by others. The upside is that everyone's situation is different. Hope that you can get the puter up and working again. In the event that you cannot, restoring factory specs will not be difficult. If you have back up, it may even be a good thing. Your computer will be a great as it was on the first day you owned it.

haha, well I already read though the thred that richc46 gave me, and I used safemode to uninstall all the antivirus stuff, since it freezes in normal. but thanks again for the links.

anyways, When I bought my pc, I didn't receive a DVD with vista, so how do I restore it to factory settings!? :'(

I always thought about reformating in the past, but I never got around to it and I didn't recive a CD.

According to others who had this problem, they reformated and it didn't change anything!? they still had the problem

    Hope to help this time:

Laptop Recovery Instructions - Tech Support Forum

If not here go to webite of your computer Mfg. or go to the top, top of your closest, dust off the computer manual and look there for factory specs.

Guess what guys, I fixed the problem!!!

It turns out I lied to you some bit, I didn't Completely run Checkdisk, so I made this post while it was at 34% when it finished, it worked good as new!

Thanks again for all the help! I am so relieved!
