Solved stranger things haven't happened when battery goes dead

Here's a problem that just started when my battery goes completely dead. Before, when I would plug it back in, I would hit the power button and all would be restored to where it was before.
Now it doesn't - instead, it boots up to Windows but nothing I had before is saved, where before it was.
Can one point out to me what I must to do have the computer do what it did before should the battery go dead. I'm using a Toshiba laptop P200 with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Thanks for the reply. I've gone to Power Options - Change Advanced Power Settings - to Critical Battery Actions - set that to "sleep" - then to Low Battery Action - set that to sleep. I allowed the machine to completely drain the battery - it shut down but didn't save my programs. It does a reboot to just Windows.

I haven't yet set the machine to default settings - shall do, unless you've got more advice.

Set to hibernate. Based upon my link, the big diference between sleep and hibernate is that hibernate saves in the event of shut down.

I think that it should work. That is the purpose of hibernate. You had it at one time but it must have changed to sleep. Let me know, wishing you the best.

Riche46, it appears you were absolutely correct. I allowed the battery to go dead and when I plugged in / powered up again, it brought me to the program(s) where I had left off. Again thanks for the help!!!
