My computer is a desktop HP Pavilion with Windows Vista (64-bit). When I turn the computer on the light that says is on goes on and the computer makes noises like is working but nothing happens, it's like the computer is off. That happened for a week then it really went on and I was able to use it like nothing happened. A week later the same thing happened, I wasn't able to used it for a week. Then a week later again I was able used it, and is been happening that for a month now. I ran my anti-virus but it didn't find anything. Can somebody help me!

How old is the computer, you say it's been happening for a month so what did you do just before this started to happen ?

Do you get any error messages when you try to start it, do you see anything on the monitor or is it just black ?

Don't forget we can't see your machine so need as much information as you can provide like particulars about what security software you have what model machine, have you been to HP support to see if they have any answers, it could be a stuck power button.

My computer is 1 year old a got it brand new. the last thing I did before all this started to happen was checking out www.metroflog.com. when I was checking out this website my computer froze and I couldn't do nothing so I turn it off, the next day is when the issues started to happen.

I don't get any kind of messages when I try to start it, the monitor goes right to sleep because nothing happens.

The anti-virus I have is McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2010 and it didn't find nothing, also I ran Spyware Doctor and it didn't find nothing either.

My computer is a desktop HP Pavilion with Windows Vista (64-bit). And I haven't been to HP support because I thought it was a virus or something I can fix, but I will do that so see how they can help me.

My Computer

Ive been trying to work this one out on a family members pc (not HP - Custom build) for some years now and its getting worse over time, i simply can not work it out so i hope for an answer here soon
The only thing i can get close to thinking is that its the graphics card failing since i have a very similar thing happen to me when my card died
if you have or can borrow a spare card then it may be worth trialling it for a month to see if it still happens

Also you might get lucky with the HP forum:
HP Business Support Center

Even though it looks like a business paid support forum, it's users of HP business PCs volunteering to answer questions like here. You may run into someone who solved it on an HP desktop.

You need to register but they accept a hotmail address if you don't want to use your ISP email.

I don't know jack but I agree with ripbox. Every time I have ever had such similar occurrences as that which you describe either a new video driver ( or older version ) OR a new video card all together did the trick. Bad video cards or drivers rarely provided any error messages for me to diagnose "my" problems. Only after installing a new card (or driver) was I able to verify.

Did you ever check in Control Panel\System and Security\Action Center\Reliability Monitor to check what may have possibly happened.
