cannot open log install. log file

freeze

I've seen similar post on this and tried to follow the replies for the fix but didn't work for me so I thought I'd post my scenerio. I downloaded some software from a company named X10. It's for monitoring security cameras from a remote location. The software is name Vangaurd. I'm trying to uninstall it but I keep getting "cannot open log install. log file". I notice there is not a folder for this in my program files, therefore I do not see an "unistall". Does anybody know how I can uninstall this? I am using Windows Vista. Thanks to all

Ok thanks. Just to mke sure I am doing this correctly let me post the steps I am taking to get to restore point:

Control panel
System and Maintenance
Back up computer
Create a restore point or change settings
System Restore....Recommended restore is already selected

Just want to verify that I am following the correct steps.

Thanks for the help

OK I followed your steps and it takes me to the same spot as before. I get the screen that says "System restore files and settings". However I notice in the example that you sent, it shows www.vistax64.com this may be just an example but not sure.

Let me point out one other thing that I probably should have mentioned before but when I get to the screen that says..Restore system files and settings...the Recommended restore option is already checked. So next I click on "To create a restore point, open System Protection." It then opens System Properties and the Local Disk (C:) (System) is already checked then I have the Create button at the bottom. Isn't this where I want to start?

Yes, if you get to the create button, you are doing it correctly. You will also get a window that says name the point. Give it a name that you will remember, like Revo. The date and time will be shown by default. The only reason that you need the restore point is in case something goes wrong. You will be able to retrun to the good times, before the problem. Sometimes downloads go bad.

Good luck.

OK....Tried what was said and it seems to have worked. I don't see the program any more when I go to the uninstall program section or when I do a search....so looks like Revo did the job. Thanks a million. I also have a port issue but I will search the forum first for the answer and if I don't see the answer I will look for the right place to post my question.

THANKS again
