Windows Vista Home Premium Aero Not Working

I meet all the specs for windwos vista Aero. I used to have it but now when i look under control panel, appearance and personalization, and it takes to a box, and i look at windows color scheme, and it doesnt have windows vista aero on it. How do i get aero back?

Check the picture, i dont even have aero scheme to choose from, all my system requirements meet it because i used it before on this computer. I also have dwm.exe running

I ran the fix it tool it and it said dwm.exe was disabled. So i thought ok, if its disabled why doesnt it turn on. Check the picture. Im running sfc /scannow command and i will see if that fixes the problem. Under services.msc desktop windows management is started and is on automatic startup, i also checked the theme services and that was on also and on startup.

I think that you would suggest to do a repair install next if SFC did not work. Ithink if nothing else works, you are a prime candidate for System Restore.

Do you have Aero? If so, can u copy your theme folder and post it here so i can try and download it so i can try and use it? Maybe that will work.

Unfortunately when i replaced the aero theme you gave me it still didnt show up under visual styles.

-Ran microsoft fix it tool
-Going into control panel and trying to loook for aero glass option but couldnt find
-Using run and running WINSAT Aurora
-System restore

Hello,

I guess the you could remove your Display drivers completely and download an updated one and install it (Don't use Windows update to install your drivers it's recommend to disconnect from Internet). That might fix the issue with Aero since Desktop Windows Manager has problems reinstall display drivers might fix it.

I know this is a long-shot, and I'm just throwing something out there that I noticed while messing with some performance changes. I may be way off base, but why not.

From System Properties, go to the Advanced tab and click Settings under the Performance section.

Under the Visual Effects section, check "Enable desktop composition".

Now, this may be already covered in this thread, in one of thelinks somewhere, or it may not really have any effect on anything, but its just an idea.

No, i dont see an aero choice under the visual styles box. Hmm i think tune up utilities may have caused this because i remember one time i did adjust for best performance no matter what option in tune up utilities.(im still pondering about that problem) I'll post back my results.

Best performance will turn off aero and make it Vista Basic, or even Windows Classic. That could be the simple thing for this.

When i go to my resources folder and i go into the aero visual style folder, u know the picture thing where it shows you how it will look like. The picture shows vista basic. I think my aero files got corrupt. I went into tuneup utilities and i changed my profile so it would say to adjust to best appearance regardless of performance and i aplied all the tweaks that it had for perforamnce, and still no good.

Did a little research. Your graphics card is a 128MB hypermemory graphics card that is Directx 9 compatible. Yes that meets vista aero specs but barely. If you check your WEI score, does it come up 1.0? If it does for graphics then you are running at 64MB or less of graphics memory, which AERO instantly turns off and goes to Vista Basic. Go to personalization> display properties> advanced settings. If the selected is at 64MB dedicated. Thats your problem. You may need to delete the driver from the device manager and redownload it from nVidia.

I get base score 3.0 from the index score. The base score is your lowest one and i just recently updated it.
