Hello Everyone,

I have recently had a very nasty virus, but that was removed some weeks ago with no more of it reappearing, so I think this is not the cause.

Today when I tried to boot my computer, I got a BSOD. It flashed past before I could see it. This is very strange. My settings tell it not to auto restart on system failure, and to generate a Kernal Memory Dump. The dump was NOT created, the BSOD kept flashing and auto restarting, and I can find no mention in Event Viewer or Problem Reports and Solutions. It is like it never happened, except that my computer would not start. I eventually fixed this using Last Known Good Configuration. I made no changes, windows updates, anything yesterday. After I found no mention, I momentarily forgot about it.

Now however, whenever I try to install software from either disk drive, I get the following error: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000ba). Click OK to terminate the application." I click OK and the setup stops working and is closed. This happens with every single CD/DVD.

I will try a repair install if nobody has seen this before. Any ideas? Thanks!

EDIT: It is not just my DVD drives, the latest Java update just failed with the same error.

EDIT: Fixed (sort of) by copying every CD/DVD to Desktop and installing from there (that works fine).
