Hi guys so for some reason or another all sudden I am getting this error message side by side configuration is incorrect. The only program that seems to still work, luckily for me, is the 64bit internet explorer. Any ideas how to fix it? Sorry for being so brief but I am very frustrated and feed up with my computer at the moment. My computer's brand is an Asus. Vista version is home premium 64bit service pack 2.

A system file is corrupt. Even though I have the same OS as you I don't have that folder labelled that way so I can't tell you what that file is responsible for keeping track of.

An sfc /scannow /verifyonly is called for if after a reboot the same thing comes up.

Did you run sxstrace?

How do you use sxstrace? I rarely use the command prompt, but this corrupt file as caused me to learn on the go. Is there is any way to fix a corrupt system file, a patch or such? I ran an sfc / scannow and it said there were corrupt files, but they could not be fixed. Thanks

If the original disk startup repair didn't work then it's a file that refers to system mods made after a service pack installation or a larger system update. Go to "Control Panel" and select "Installed Updates" from the list on the lift. You want to uninstall "Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB948465)." Uninstall it, run a sfc /scannow again to just make sure, and then reinstall it and see if the problem's still there.
