Media Direct Reinstall and Loading Device Drivers

Hi,

I have two questions.

I'm doing a repair on a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop with Vista Home Premium 32bit.

1. The system was loaded with viruses. After getting all the client data off the system, I proceeded to do an OS rebuild and had some issues. During my troubleshooting on the OS reload issues, I deleted the recovery and media direct partitions. My OS reload issues were resolved by changing to ATA in the BIOS settings. Now when I try to reinstall Media Direct 3.5 from the reinstallation disk, it fails. I created a 10GB NTFS partition and called it Media Direct on letter D and tried the install again but it continues to fail.

2. I'm also trying to reload device drivers from the resource cd. Whenever I click on the file extract button, nothing happens. The files are not extracted for me to install.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try a clean install,with a full clean & full format.

1) Boot DVD.
2) Press Shift+F10 (for command prompt)

Type in command line
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (win HD)
CLEAN ALL
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT
EXIT
