Solved tags for photos

In Photo folders, when you click on 'Tag this photo', a list of options (which one has previously typed in, either correctly or not!) appears; How do you delete or alter this list of options? The normal delete procedure has no effect. Will the list become endless?

Hello,

I am a bit confused as to where you have tagged this photo. I have uploaded a screenshot (smudged for privacy - sorry it is such a mess) of a common location to tag something. The red square indicates where the tag is. To remove a tag from here, edit the tags and press backspace quite a few times and it is gone. If this is not the location, do tell me.

Hello Richard,
I organise my photos in 'Pictures' and within a given folder, if I double click on a photo it comes up ,enlarged, in Windows Photo Gallery. In the panel on the right hand side there's a facility for rating, captioning, and tagging. when I click on 'add a tag', the box clears ready for typing the tag and also a list of tags -that I have previously used - pops up, so you can click on one instantly. This IS useful, but I just find it annoying that I can't delete anything from that list of options, even when mistyped or no longer required. (There is no problem with adding or deleting the particular tag for a given photo).

You can delete them if you right-click on the Tag under Tags on the left-hand side, and then click Delete.

Thanks for your help, Ed. Having only recently started tagging pics,I was so busy tagging, I hadn't actually noticed what facilities Photo gallery offered. I hadn't begun to call up groups of pictures, so I hadn't realised the significance of left hand list of tags. Thanks to you, I can now sort by tagged pics, and delete tags on the left as you suggested. BUT I still can't delete from the right hand group - (that list of options which pops up when you are allocating tags) - that I first mentioned. Also, I notice that there are 23 tags in use in left hand list and only 10 in the options. Why are the lists not the same? In other words, why don't all the tags in use in the folders, turn up in the options list? Some of those in my (smaller) options list are nonsense or mistypes, which I don't want. I have tried attaching the mistype to a photo and then deleting on the left,it as you suggested, but it still comes up in the options even when no photo is using it. Any suggestions?
