Solved Need To Edit User File Permissions
I am trying to set user file permissions in vista, and am unbale to do so as the policy editor in Home Premium is unavailable. I am trying to block a user from:
Viewing
Accesing
and Changing files on my slave drive.
Any help, or registry edits that you may give will be appreciated..... thanks in advance
Hello,
If I understand you correctly, here is how to solve this problem. If I have misunderstood, just tell me!
Navigate to the drive and Right Click on it and select Properties .
Under the Security tab, click Advanced .
Under the Owner tab, click Edit .
Click "Other Users and Groups ".
Click Advanced.
Click "Find Now ".
Scroll down and double click on Your User/Administrators .
Click OK THREE times.
Click Edit (now on the standard file Property window under the Security tab).
Click Add.
Click Advanced.
Click "Find Now".
Scroll down and double click on That User .
Click OK .
Single click on That User and then tick the "Full Control " box under Deny .
Click OK TWO times.
Also, here is how to remove the security tab (through the registry at the bottom)

Thanks I will try and let you know if it worked.
Remember that removing the Security tab applies to all users including Administrators, and so an Administrator wishing to make a change is required to temporarily undo this or use the Command Prompt.
