extend C: partition drive

I am runnig out of space in the C drive, but have plenty of space in D drive.

How do I allocate more space from the D drive to the C drive?

My disk management shows this info:

C: Simple Basic NTFS (system,boot,...,primary partition)29.29GB Free space=1.64B
D: Simple Basic NTFS (Logical drive) 104.96GB Free space=88.79GB
Simple Basic (EISA Configuration) 14.79GB Free space=14.79GB
This driver (EISA) has no letter assigned.

As you can see I have no memory in C:.

What can I do to increase it?

Do not want to purchase additional programs, not enough space to install them.

Thanks for all your help

Hello LES555, welcome to Vista Forums!

Have a look at the free program at the link below, you can use it to do what you need, it's very easy to use; you will need to create an E: partition and move everything from D: to E: so you can add that space to C:.

Partition Wizard is a Magic Server Partition Manager Software for Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 and Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7.

Also have a look at this tutorial at the link below to shrink D: and create E:.

I did what you suggested but using the info at the tutorial from Brink (How to Delete and Extend a Partition with Disk management in Vista).

Everything worked fine...except I can not extend drive C:

I have the following at the present time:

Let me go back a little to explain better:
The original format I had was:
C:(System boot...) D:(Logical drive) no letter (EISA).
see attached: C:29.29GB - D:104.96GB - __ 14.79GB

After I partition D: I had:
C: 29.29GB - D: 52.54GB - F: 52.43GB - __ 14.79GB
see attached

I then open my computer and copy all folders in D: to F:

After that I went back to system management window and delte D: and as a result I had an epmty Free Space with no letter designation in green color, it was never color black and when I click on it asked me to name the new simple volume like I already explain in previous post.

Thanks for all your guidance

Hi, This is my first time on this forum.

I have windows vista basic on my dell vostro 1500 laptop. My hard disk was partitioned as C=40 GB, D=40 GB AND E=80 GB.

I have windows in C and almost all other softwares in D, while E is for my own personal data storage and use.

Now my problem is that my C is running out of space (only 1.13 GB left), and I donot know what to do?

Can anyone help me in this regard. I am a complete novice. I will be grateful if somebody can solve my problem in a easy and simple way...

will be waiting for a response.

thanking you in advance...
