Sudden Vista Slowdown, Help Please

Before I start and make a fool of myself, I think it's best to tell you that I probably don't know as much as any of you about vista, but I'm kinda in a bind at the moment.

I think I might have a virus or something on my computer, but I'm not sure. I've noticed that when I'm browsing on Firefox, it has randomly started to lag out on me, pausing before any action(Causing the top bar to briefly tell me that it is not responding) and this also seems to be the case in Open Office. When I turn off the wireless internet on it, it seems to stop and it's been going on for a little while now.

I'm also running an outdated version of Kaspersky, with the firewall still active, but I don't go to any websites that are unsafe. I can give any other details needed, and I just really need some quick help since I don't want my laptop spazzing out during finals.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Hello D Rob, welcome to Vista Forums!

The first thing that needs done it to run a scan with the free version of MBAM that can be found at the first link below, then install the free version of Avast (you must register but it's free) and get rid of Kaspersky; be sure to post back to keep us informed.
