Can anyone please help........

My HP laptop is infected.....a programme called apmanager.exe is blocking my access.......I can get to the log in page and then when I enter my password, i cannot go any further. This application apears and through online research I read that this is a fake notice claiming to be a Copyright violation - copyright content detected and asks me to click on a link to pay a fine and will not allow me to go any further - info online advises to do a system restore/recovery but as i cannot get passed this point, i cannot do anything.

I have another user account but it is set up with limited authorisation as a user account and cannot make any system changes.

What can i do to get rid of this???

hope someone can help

Hi and welcome to the forums .

As the old saying goes there is more than one way to skin a cat and the same applies to system restores, check out the second technique at http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html and see if this helps at all in any way.

If you require anymore assistance we will be more than happy to help.

Try a boot scanner. A boot scanne(in my opinion) is one of the best ways to combat viruses (programs llike malwarebytes, and avast are just to help you be protected), but in any chance that a virus gets through your defenses, a boot scanner is your best bet.
