Failing Hard Drive???

My computer has been SUPER SLOW for the past few days, I've restarted it, turned off bloatware processes, and still no luck...

It will be a complete system lock up, where the whole computer will stop responding for at most 30 seconds, then if I click while it's locked up, nothing will happen. Then when the computer comes out of the freeze, I'll hear the computer beeping, like the type of beeps from the bios, not from the OS.

Also, when the computer does this, the Hard Drive light will be constantly on, it'll try to read or write for a few seconds then stop, and repeat the process. And then it'll start to do its crap and the computer won't be locked up.

One last thing... While typing this, my computer was locking up, and I'd still type, and nothing would appear on the screen, until the computer started to respond again.

Sorry for the long ass information. Any help appreciated, and I will give Rep. Thanks

Add: ran a quick scan on antivirus, and came up with nothing.

Dont run chkdsk while in read only mode, it cant continue while in read only mode: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP

You might have to find out what the error sfc found and manually fix it then if it doesnt work.

(my next step is to suggest running it in safemode but from your own judgement you can decide).

If you want to, try the hard drive in another computer so we can rule out software (depends on results) just to be safe.

What speed fan says on my disks SMART test... two pictures, first one is first list, and second is scrolled down the list to the bottom.

HD is quite cool, 38 degrees Celcius, which I think is like 90 or 100 F

There's a listing of the different manufacturers' diagnostics on this page: HD Diagnostic
If you notice (in Post 6) your screenshots show "Unknown attributes" - those are (usually) specific tests that the manufacturer has installed (and they don't conform to the SMART specification). That's the reason for running the manufacturer's utility.

In case you didn't know, your drive is a Western Digital 250 gB 2½" SATA drive

Yeah, I have a Western Digital, and I tried one of their diagnostics, and it errored in the middle of the test.

Alright, I'm looking for a new HDD, and I was wondering what brand is the best. I won't spend more than $60 for a HDD since this lappy is 2 years old, and I plan on getting a new one in a year or 2.

Needs to be 250 gigs or bigger, since I may try and clone the failing drive.

Was looking at this one, a Western Digital, it's a 3Gbit/second, and I'm not sure if it will work in my laptop. My laptop can support ATA and SATA, but I'm not sure if it can support 3Gbit/Second SATA. Can someone point me in the right direction? thanks

My HD is a WD2500BEVS-22UST0
