Parental Controls - Program Blocks do not work!

I haven't seen this exact problem addressed yet. I had set up Parental Controls for my 16 year-old son with his consent. He has a game loaded in his standard account (although it is not recognized as a game by parental controls) that he simply cannot resist playing. He agreed to let me block it (as a program block) and to password protect the administrator account just until finals are over. I did it successfully for one week. Suddenly, one day all his settings were gone and his documents were all in temporary files. We did a system restore to the day before (still a day when parental controls were on and functioning to block this game) and suddenly, I cannot block the game no matter what I do. I have tried to turn parental controls off, restart the computer, turn them on, and then impose the block again. It simply does not block the game. Please help. We are in the final weeks of junior year! I would prefer not to force him to create a new standard account as he has all his bookmarks and files organized in his account. Thanks.

I am sorry, but I do not have an answer to your question other than open a new users account. I understand your frustration and problem regarding the information that is containted in the users account. May I suggest that you transfer everything, in one easy step using Easy Transfer. Intented to transfer from Vista to Windows 7, making an upgrade easy, but works from Vista to Vista. I tested before upgrading to Windows 7. Just tranfer everything to a finger drive or external hard drive, then transfer to the new users account.

EDIT: Heres an idea, why not just put the game in a new account and see if it can be blocked. Your son can do the important things first, then when the time comes for the game, he can go to the new account, play it and then leave when the controls block him.
