Hello guys, My computer samsung, "don't remember the model" suddenly wouldn't boot. I haven't installed anything special, no new drivers, graphiccards or anything. But when I try to boot it, the power lights up and I can hear drivers and stuff getting on. My cd room opens and everything but in the same time it's off ... So my computer is on but in the same time off ... It won't boot. I don't know what the problem is, and btw my screen is black all the time. It won't even react, neither do my keyboard or my mouse.

It all began when I did shut it down around 13.00 and I tried to boot it around 15.30 but it wouldnt ... It could perhaps be something I did around 13.00. I cancelled some kind of update "samsung magicdoctor or something like that" just before this whole pc wouldnt start... perhaps that's the problem??? I don't know ... But i can't even go to the menu or anything... plz helpppppp

Hi and welcome to the forums.

At what point does it stop booting? The Samsung screen, a black screen...?

First off I would recomend you try doing a system restore using the install disk.

A tutorial can be found at http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html

If the problem is registry based it may fix the problem.

Also try pressing F8 repeatedly when your PC turns on and see if anything happens.

If you have any wuestions do ask them and post back with any results.

Oli

Was this a BIOS update?

My Computer

It could be ... I didn't exactly read anything of it, I just did exit the whole thing in the middle of it. Perhaps that's why but if that's the case, how can I restore that?

My Computer

This doesn't sound very good.

Can you give us the exact model number of your computer? Hopefully it's somewhere on the case.

Hello Kimroflmao,
I would start by clearing the CMOS, remove the battery turn it over and replace for ten minutes , turn it back to the proper way and refit.
Reboot and see if the machine will boot.

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

Hello guys, I appreciate your help but ehm me and my friends uncle tried to fix it by resetting the bios and removing cmos and all that but we believe that my BIOS is messed up atm it could be broken. Because when I boot up the power gets on and all but none of the mouse, screen or keyboard power up. We've tried to use other graphic cards, ram and even drives, I think, but no luck. Anyway I think we'll just replace the bios or something somehow but I believe the model is Samsung DM-Z150.
But I think I cancelled a bios upgrade and messed it up but I really hope not :(

erm, my guts say that it isnt anything to do with the bios, samsung magic doctor is simply a tool to help you optimize/diagnose your computer for problems: How To Diagnose Computer Problems Using Samsung Magic Doctor SAMSUNG=

To test if this is a BIOS problem, on another computer, download and run a linux live cd. Here is how to burn a ubuntu ISO: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

Then put in the cd into your computer and turn it on, once the cd loads, click run live cd: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

If you can get in and use the linux live cd then it isnt a bios problem as it can get through POST.

Also, set anything that is overclocked back to default as a basic troubleshooting step.

If it is a bios problem, but you can get into the bios settings (CMOS): http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_do_i_fix_a_messed_up_bios_on_an_xp_pc.html

If anything doesnt work, you may have to reflash your BIOS using a cd/floppy DOS bootup command thingy (here is a basic informatory page on flashing the bios): http://www.devhardware.com/c/a/Hardware-Guides/Why-and-How-to-Flash-Your-BIOS/

You may have to do a bit of researching on your system model to try to fix your bios.

He's already said the screen just turns black and the Samsung BIOS screen with the Samsung logo on doesn't ven appear.

It is almost certainly a BIOS problem.

I really appreciate your help but I'll just get back to the shop and try to receive a new computer instead, cause I still have my warranty, so it shouldn't be any problem.

Thanks for correcting me. I didnt take enough time to read the post. At least I suggested reflashing bios again, or if that didnt work, getting a new chip/mobo?
