Prior to moving my computer to Win7, I went to Programs and deleted programs that I don't use. Since I thought that C++ and all of it's updates were just for folks that program, I deleted them. After getting rid of a couple of other programs, I re-booted and got a warning message about a missing .dll, MCVP60.DLL, if memory serves. The computer went into a loop, and I couldn't get to the recycle bin to un-delete the files. I spent three days trying to get the system to allow me to get back to a Windows environment, and took it to a genious Tech Support guy at CompUSA, he worked on it for four days and couldn't get back to a Windows environment, even after restoring the deleted files. We ended up just re-installing the operating system which means that I have to re-install all of my programs. Carbonite will restore the data files, but it's going to be a royal pain in the butt.
WARNING: DON'T DELETE C++ FILES.
Cheers,
Duane
