Corrupted Photos viewing or saving

I could use alittle assistance in working with photos. My computer is destroying my photos as I try to view or save them. It is placing color bands, gray sections, blacking out, and/or rearranging the picture when trying to view or save it. Attached is one example of this problem.

The computer is operating with Vista Home Premium Ver. 6.0 (Build 6002) Service Pack 2, 32 bit, with 4 G RAM. I also have an USB hub hooked to the computer as I have multiple external hard drives for storage and backup. My computer/software knowledge is closer to the advanced level. I have been troubleshooting this and have not had any luck. I have ran a CHKDSK on all drives, and disconnected the USB hub by directly connecting to the computer some of the drives. This problem occurs when reading directly off CD's or off the hard drive. If I try to save the photos from any device it corrupts some but not all photos. So its not a consistent problem. I do have some photography software on the computer like Photoshop, Beta Lightroom 3, and Nikon's ViewNX. These are the main ones I use, but there are a few more. This problem started about two to three months ago. I have not added anything new to the computer nor any new software other than windows updates. I have tried to roll the computer back right after it started and it did not help. I am not sure as to when it really started as it was only a occassionaly thing at first and now it is getting worse.

I would appreciate any guidance and/or assistance to this problem as I cannot do the work I need to until this is fixed. Thank you.
