Programs going inactive please help

Ok I recently encountered a problem where whatever application im using seems to randonaly exit its use. I dont mean the program crashes more like someone is constantly hitting Alt Tab. It took me 15 minutes just to write this because I had to keep clicking on the text box.

I didn't notice the problem this morning but then my mother had someone work on my pc installing a USB wireless adapter (pissed she didn't just ask me to do it) and when i went to use it later in the day i started having the problem.

Now it cant be that Alt Tab are stuck since when I run a full screen application i have no problems like a game or something. It seems to be localized to the desktop. Any ap be it a simple notepad to firefox encounters the problem. I have checked the wires and nothing seems to be loose and I also tried preforming a system restore to a date before I had the problem and that didn't do it either.

It could be a virus but if it is Comodo Antivirus didnt pick up anything through a startup scan so any advice would be appriecated.

I have tried MSconfig checking for any new startup programs but no luck in that department.

I uninstalled comodo antivirus and super anti spyware and shifted to norton and spybot s&d and problem went away but neither progran actually found anything in addition to running a malwarebytes anti mailware but that didn't find anything. but now its back and worse then ever. Please someone out there tell me what the hell is going on. I have exhausted my solutions outside wiping the harddrive and starting over.

I know its not a keyboard issue because i have swapped keyboards and the problem still persisted. Mouse on the other hand could be a possibility

I would recommend that you do a system restore to before you encountered the problem. This should fix it, but let us know how it goes :)

I can give you a guide on how to do a system restore if you wish?

Hello steelfallen,
Run these two free apps and see if there is any change.

Malwarebytes

CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download (Backup Registry When Prompted)

After updating Malwarebytes to the latest version, scan with Malwarebytes first.

Use the cleaning tool in CCleaner first, then scan the registry for errors. (Backup Registry When Prompted)

Also, just to make sure your OS file system is in good order, open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc/scannow press enter and let it scan, if errors are found you will need to scan it again until clear of any errors.

Give this a try and post your results, good luck.

I run CCleaner pretty regularly and it hasnt seemed to have a effect. The cleanup or issues options been run to no avail and I have run Malewarebytes twice without anything being picked up.

I will try your OS scan since that is one that I have not tried before.

The scan did find problems but said something that they couldnt be fixed

Exact line
Windows Reasource Protection has found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them

I did run the scan three times to see if it would cause a difference but got the same responce each time. I dont know if what the scan found is the reason for my current application problem or if its merely minor registration errors. I have also confirmed that it is not a keyboard or mouse issue since I have tried several models including wireless, old school hookup and USB based and they all still had the same problem

I shall now try that clean boot. I just hope its more helpful than Safe Mode since if a problems doesnt occur there it doesn't always really help idenify what the problem is

Running a pure clean boot without any programs has shown results. The problem has disappeared (something that runing in safe mode did not do) so now I have to go through each non MS program to find out which one is causing me problems. If it does turn out to be something the tech installed I will have to have a long talk with him about accountability and probally get my moms money back since his installation may have caused far more grief then relief. Thank you for your advice and if I encounter any problems with the narrowing of the program or if the problem randomally pops up again I'll post here again.

Glad you are making some progress with this problem, it should be straight forward to find the culprit, but by now you know nothing is straight forward with these things.
Good luck and if you need any further help just post and we will try to be of some assistance.
