Hello,
I currently have windows vista 32 bit. I have inspiron 530. My computer can support win 64 bit, i tested it. My pc came pre-installed with vista 32 bit and i only got the 32 bit reinstallation DVD. How can i get a 64 bit?

And can i use my win vista cd key for the 64 bit version?

Thanks, I'll be awaiting a response!

There are no 32 and 64 bit keys. One key is for both 32 or 64. As long as the OS is on only one computer at a time you can use either key. You can call your computer mfg or MS and they will most likely sell you one for about 20 bucks. Call the company that gave you the first OS. Came with computer call that company. Bought a DVD call MS>

If you have any other questions or concerns, I will try my best to help

That depends. If your copy of Windows 7 is an OEM copy then the answer is no, it cannot be done.

If it is an upgrade copy and you upgrade from Vista the legal answer is no.

If it is a full retail copy the answer is yes

Of couse the first option is the cheapest, the second is the next expensive and the third is the most expensive. In addition, legally you cannot buy an OEM copy and put it on your present machine. Any other questiions just ask.

Okay , I understand. At the moment i want to upgrade this pc so it can run any game on ultra settings.

I dont want to start another thread so :

I have bought my inspiron 530 3 years ago ( early 2007) . At the moment i have nvidia 8600 GT. I am planning on buying Nvidia GTS 250 as an upgrade from > Scan.co.uk: GV-N250OC-1GI rev 2.0 - 1GB Gigabyte GTS 250, 2200MHz GDDR3, GPU 765MHz, Shader 1912MHz, 128 Cores, D-Sub/ DL DVI-I/ HDMI .

The question is, will that fit and work on my inspiron 530?

Thanks, I'll be awaiting a response!

Hello,

I will let Rich deal with your current issue; I have no idea whether things will fit or not! Hopefully Rich will. Anyway, this may not be helpful, but here is a good guide to building your own computer for when you are going to do it, just to tuck away. How to Build Your Own Computer

Since I cannot answer with 100% certainty, I am reluctant to give an answer that may not be correct.
