Disable start-up item

Hello,

When i start up my Computer (Acer Aspire 5738G-644G32MN) he automatically starts searching for a network.
To stop it, i have to push the button on the left top of the keyboard that sits under the power button.
I am looking for a method to disable this.

Have a look at the tutorial at the link below to see if you can find an entry in the Startup file that mentions anything about a "network search" if so see if Option One in the tutorial will help, make only one change to the file at a time and restart the PC after any changes are made to the file. Be sure to post back to keep us informed.

Be sure to have a look at the Note in the tutorial, don't be concerned with Option Two in the tutorial for now.


Troubleshooting with MSCONFIG

That's a wireless connection its looking for is it?

Do not disable services in MSCONFIG use SERVICES.MSC

I have already tried to disable some services in services.msc but so far it did not work.
I have also used Autoruns from Sysinternals, but i don't know the name of the item i am looking for,
so it is not possible to figure out which one to disable.

PS: I am from Belgium, so if i make any writing mistakes,
it is because i am not used to write in the English language

I still have not found a solution to disable this item.

press windows key and R type MSCONFIG press OK go to services, tick hide all microsoft services and what do you have left showing?

The only Acer service is : Acer ePower Service
I dont know what will happen if i disable this service

I looked at Jacee's link and you don't need it but I don't think it's your problem. Go to start menu type device manager and go to network adapters. Note what your wireless network adapter is called. Then go to Services.msc and find the adapter highlight it right click go to properties and set its start up to manual in the drop down box.Press OK and exit

This is what I did.
I opened run with the Windows Key + R,
and typed devmgmt.msc
Then I opened Network adapters,
and made a right-click on Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN and disabled it.
That was the solution.

Dit is wat ik deed.
Ik opende Uitvoeren met de Windowstoets + R,
en typte devmgmt.msc
Dan opende ik Netwerkadapters,
rechtsklikte op Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN en schakelde dit uit.
Dat was de oplossing om te voorkomen dat er bij de volgende start van mijn PC automatisch naar een netwerk gezocht werd.
