When attempting to install the Microsoft Cleanup Utiliy (msicuu2.exe), the following "Windows Script Host" message box is displayed:

Script:
C:\Users\<my User folder>\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\StartMsi.vbs
Line: 1
Char: 1
Error: ActiveX component can't create object:
'Scripting.FileSystemObject'
Code: 800A01AD
Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error

My OS is Vista Ultimate 64-bit service pack 2.

I ran 'regsvr32 scrrun.dll' successfully and it didn't fix the problem.
I also ran 'regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\wshom.ocxsucc' successfully and it didn't fix the problem.

I am also unable to install an HP printer software package due to a Windows Installer error. I have a feeling the two are related. I can't find a compatible Windows Installer to download which might fix the problem.

I have had this problem for some time.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks much! I was able to run the Cleanup Utility!

However, the nagging question remains...

Why do I get the error when attempting to run normally?

As I mentioned previously, I believe the issue is preventing me from installing an HP printer software package which is my ultimate goal. Maybe my Windows Installer is corrupted.

Which leads me back to my search for a Windows Installer I can download that is compatible with Vista Ultimate 64-bit Service pack 2. I found one for Service pack 1, but it is rejected as not compatible.

Thanks again for the help!

That one is documented to be for Vista Service Pack 1.

I tried it anyway, and it failed to install with a message saying not applicable to my OS which is Vista Service Pack 2.

Thanks for the input!
