A few questions for the Vista experts... Dual Boot

My goal is to set up a dual boot system With Windows 7 Ultimate on my new 500gb harddrive. Right now, I have Vista Home Premium and around 150 various programs installed on the the drive in the C partition. On the D partition are the data folders for two user accounts.

When finished, I want to have all of the programs that I currently have installed in Vista available and functional in Windows 7, like iTunes, Photoshop, Google Chrome and picasa, sketchup, etc...

So, I will create a third partition for the installation of Windows 7, and I would like to move all programs except for Windows Vista OS and whatever is needed for it to function properly to my D drive partition where I can create a programs folder for them.

This seems straightforward to me, but can this be done this way? What are the problems that I need to look out for, any registry edits that need to be made?

Thanks for any input/advice!

Hello Dick Jagger.

First off you won't need to edit any registry entries, you will need to re-install all the programs / apps you mention to the new Windows 7 installation, there's no way for them to function between different OSs.
The best way to do it is to acquire another Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to install Windows 7 to because later if/when (and you will) want to remove Vista and use Windows 7 as the only installed OS, it will be much easier.
Have a look at the tutorial at the link bekiw to start.
