Vista Reboot problem

Right, here's my problem (btw I'm no wizard with computers by any means just to let you know!!!)...

I'm 'running' windows vista 32 bit on a Toshiba satellite L300 laptop. When I run the computer in normal mode it freezes very soon after starting up, I can sign in to my profile but get no further.

I have tried 'repair your computer' and I get the message:

Something about a hardware problem/a device is plugged in which shouldn't be...
Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: an unexpected I/o error has occurred

I have run a hard disk scan, and have also scanned the memory, no problems detected.

I have tried to create recovery discs and when I do I get about half way through creating the first disc and then I get...

'failed to read the following file.
F:\06491XSP.swm
(Error code: 020150-20-00000000)'

If it's any help, I've found 06491XSP.swm on drive E (data), in 'HDD recovery', in a file called 'SWImg'. If it makes any difference there is also 06491XSP2.swm, 06491XSP3.swm, 06491XSP4.swm and 06491XSP5.swm in the same SWImg folder.

Right, thinks that's about all I can tell you! Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Do you have a flash or external hard drive plugged in? Remove it and see if the error still occurs.

Was Vista the original Operating Service that came on your machine?
