CHKDSK issues

For some reason I decided to run a CHKDSK on next start up and half way through the power flickered in my house. PC restarted and couldnt start windows. It went to a repair phase, said it couldnt be repaired then restarted. CHKDSK ran until it was finished but the screen just stayed black (had a mouse cursor on screen and keyboard locks worked). I waited for an hour and nothing so forced a restart. After the restart it ran CHKDSK again. The keyboard was not responsive at the start of chkdsk and wouldnt register that I was hitting a key to skip it. It is currently about 50% through.

Im trying to prepare myself a bit ahead of time for if it goes black screen again. Is there anything I need to attempt if it goes through the same cycle?

It continues to stay black after chkdsk finishes forcing me to hard reset. After i reset it asks me to run windows normally (which starts chkdsk again) or safe mode. Safe mode gets hung up on crcdisk.sys and wont go past it.

I went into system repair and there is no back up or restore point to be found, which I know isnt true. I ran the start up repair and the root problem repair recommended is run chkdsk......... Im at a loss here.

It now loads windows (windows repair says nothing is wrong and it opens the OS fine)
but the screen is just black. The mouse cursor is visible and can be moved around and the keyboard works. Nothing but black screen and cursor though.

Can you press CTRL,ALT,DEL and start task manager see if explorer.exe is running
