Unique Font issue...that has puzzled many

I have been allover the web and talking to other people about this issue for about 2 days now and we do not know where to go from here.

I have received a photoshop editing job that requires me to download and install a set of fonts that were given to me in a giant file by email.

I opened the set with WinRar and all went smoothly until I tried to install them. I used the basic method of

Font Folder->File->Install new font and I got this error

So then I tried to save the file to my external and then install it, then I tried to extract it and install, I took individual fonts from the file and tried to install it that way but got the exact same error. I was recommended to install a font Veiwer, so I installed AMP Font Veiwer and the files open up in this program but when I go to install it I run into the same issue.

It is a rather strange error considering it doesn't have an error code or anything. It's like it just can't locate the files, but they files are there.

I have been able to download fonts in the past. One of my teachers gave me a font her purchased on my external harddrive and my font folder accepted that font without any problems not that long ago.

If you know where they are located, can you just drag them from one folder and drop them into the font folder?
