simple cmd prompt gone wrong?

Had no idea what to call the thread, sorry

I have started having problems with my laptop after typing a command promt. I was trying to run the command prompt as administrator to format an external hard drive to FAT32. But even though i was logged on to the administrator account it said access denied so i looked into the vista help guide which gave me this prompt.
The promt was, runas.exe/username which, fair enough didn't make much sense but i trusted the help! This is what it looked like:

c:\users\username>runas.exe/username

Access was still denied to try and format the hard drive. So i took it as it didn't work or do anything. However since then, when i tried to use Imgburn it wouldn't detect the disc drive (which stills plays dvd's and stuff) So then i went to system restore and it said there was no system restore points. (My computer is always creating them so i definately had some)
Anyhow since then i seem to be having starnge things happening on the laptop, like after a restart i am unable to use google chrome, its like it doesn't recognise it.

Can anyone help? Is there a way to undo the prompt? (not sure how there can be) I am completely baffled and i feel like my laptop is slipping into a coma or something. Really could do with some ideas of what i can do to go back to 2 days ago when everything was fine :(

Hello Rachybug, welcome to Vista Forums!

When you ran the command did you substitute your account name where it listed <username>

Like this c:\users\<add your username here>runas.exe/<add your username here>

If you have a Vista install disk, have a look at the tutorial at the link below.

I think that even in the adm account, you were not in an elevated prompt. Did you do this?
