Looking to find out what the arrows over the pictures mean. Thanks for any help.

Arrows over pictures normally means that it is a shortcut.
A shortcut is a redirection from the icon on the screen to the actual file that is stored in another directory on your Harddrive.

Follow these steps:

1. Open the Start Menu
2. Select Control Panel
3. Click on Programs
4. Click on Default Programs
5. Click on Associate a file type or a protocol with a program

Scroll down the list, and find what the following file extensions are associated with and tell us:

-jpeg
-gif
-png
-bmp

Ok, to be honest with you, I don't have any more ideas at the moment.

Those checkmarks in the green boxes look like Norton 360
Backup Status Indicators.

If so, they can be eliminated in the Norton settings.

Just ran into the same problem myself. I recently updated Norton 360 (to version 4.0, I think?). Pictures suddenly had a big green checkmark covering 1/6 of all my pictures. Very annoying. Word icons also had it. Went into Norton backup, clicked backup status overlays and they all went away.
