1GB Ram for Vista?
Hi,
I was recently asked to fix a laptop for a friend because it was running slow. I ran CCleaner and the standard cleaning things and had it going alright. It has 1GB of Ram, so I recommended upgrading the ram to at least 2GB to my friend. They took it into the store and was told it doesn't need any more Ram it will run fine as is. Is this really true? I find you need at least 2gb for your computer to run properly with windows vista.
Your opinions are appreciated

I do not agree, one GB ram that is the bare minimum; it will run fast if you just want to play with the OS and not have games or other programs. I think 3 GB or ram would show a big increase in performance.

Re: 1GB Ram for Vista?
Hello FB.
Certainly Vista will run on less but it is a RAM pig and it does better with at least 2GB and 4GB would be a great improvement if the mobo will do it, you would see the difference with 2GB, take it back to the shop and tell them you want them to do as you ask, unless it's your friend that is happy with it as it is and he doesn't really care; be sure to let us know how it sorts out.

Re: 1GB Ram for Vista?
The friend thought that they would rather just listen to the shop person, but I know from past experience that vista is a resource hog and needs atleast 2gb to fully function or 4GB for the full experience. This is 32bit just so you know. Thanks guys. I thought I had better come here for some proof.
