Shrinking volume

Hi Guys,
Although the question that I've asked below has been answered earlier,I thought of bringing it up again as I couldn't find the exact solution anywhere...

Q: How can you shrink your C Drive to the capacity that you want?
(How can you get around the error message - disable pagefiles and snapshots in the volume...)

I couldn't shrink more than 10GB from C Drive even after disabling pagefiles and snapshots...

If someone can reply for this that'll be great...

Hello Nish, welcome to Vista Forums!

Have a look at the tutorial at the link below; Partition Wizard will re-size Windows for you.

Be advised: if done wrong this could make Vista un-bootable, be sure to have reliable back-ups of any data that you don't want to lose.

Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD

I had a similar problem. I wanted to Shrink some of my C drive and create a partition but within Windows, it didn't let me do the desire amount because of the "system has some control records high up in the disc for example the master record".

I used a FREE program called Partition Manager Free Edition.
Paragon Partition Manager Free Edition - Leading partitioning software! | PARAGON Software Group - free partition software, resize partition

Once I installed I was able to use a move/resize the partition to the amount I wanted. It will require a reboot and a short program will run and actually create the partition.

Problem solved.
