Always start with the easy first. Lower right, the newtwork indicater, right click and trouble shoot.

If the icon is not there, type trouble shoot in search by the start button.

Here is my question:

How did you install was it an upgrade (you did not have to reinstall programs)
It was a custom install (you had to reinstall programs, but did not format)
It was clean, (you had to reinstall programs and you formatted)?

1 more question
the title is 'Help protect windows automatically'
and then it says
1 = Use Recommended settings
2 = Install important update only
3 = ask me later
i have to choose from these 3 options
what to do

I think that there is a problem, if you are doing a clean install and it took less than 25 to 30 minutes something is wrong.

There is a problem with your internet connection. That is why you cannot install. Was the internet working before you reinstalled?
