I can't get my Vista 64 to recognize MP4 files. I've been to the "associate a file type or protocol" screen, and MP4 is not even an entry that I can direct to??

If you right-click an MP4 file do these menu options show?
Open With... > Choose Default Program
Open With... > Choose Default Program
