You should check in the BIOS and set your SATA drive thats got your vista on it, as first boot.

That might help.

However, as i don't know how you setup your initial vista install, you ma have a bad boot record.

I was installed the Vista Ultimate 64bit back in 2008 to the Seagate 500GB hdd that is the C: drive.
The D : drive is the Hitachi 80GB ide hdd, on what was a 32bit os before.
But now i dont want to use that ide drive and want to remove from my computer, and when i unplug the cable or removing it from the computer thn the os wouldnt booting up. When i put it back thn boots okay.

Acronis is showing that the C: drive the Seagate 500GB on what is Vista Ultimate 64bit the OS is (Active,Boot).
But showing the D : drive too that (Active,System) the Ide Hitachi 80GB drive but i wasnt installed the 64bit Vista to that drive, on that was before a 32 bit vista.

I'm not an expert on this, but D: had the old 32bit vista initially, So when you stuck 64bit on, it kept the old drive as main, including the boot record there.

So while youre in x64, C is the main, and D is the 32bit. BUT while in 32bit, you'd have seen the x64 part as D.

you should be able to fix the mbr to change from D to your new C using the recovery.

Hello zon.

You have to go to disk management and right click the OS partition that you want to keep and click "Mark as active ... " then you will need to do as many as 3 separate startup repairs with system re-starts in between the repairs to write the boot files back to that OS partition.
