Vista Operating System Control Issue -- HELP!

I'm having a horrible time with Vista 32-bit Home Version.

No matter what I do, I can't seem to gain access to system folders I need access to. I've used my authority as administrator to try to check off the right boxes, but Vista is constantly struggling with me over which one of us has control over the folders.

For example, I need to copy .pst files to my Microsoft Office 2003 Outlook folders. My file explorer finds the right folder, but then I can't access it, even though I've checked off all the boxes making invisible folders visible. The folders still aren't accessible.

One reason I use Microsoft system software over Mac is that Mac was always struggling with me over who got to make the decisions. Now I'm having the same problem with Vista.

Can anyone help?

In the Tutorials there's an article how to set up the hidden Administrator account. I did it on my system, although luckily I never really have to use it. I think it still has that picture of a farm or something for wallpaper. :)

I saw the one on taking ownership and it did nothing for my problems. If I can find the hidden administrator answer, that's the one I'd like to try. On a hunch, I did a Google search and found:

Hidden Administrator Account

Now to see if it works.

Bill Gates, if you're out there, why did you give us a system like the Mac? If I wanted my Operating System to be in total control, I would'a bought a Mac.

Nah, it didn't work. I have only one account and it's my user account, and I have full administrator rights. I just don't seem to be able to delete some folders and files, regardless of how I change them and establish controls. Can anyone help?

You should see the tutorial for setting up the administrator account that's on this site. Look in Tutorials forum.

If you still can't delete files I'd scan for malware. I had a registry hack stuck on my system that would not let me delete anything even using Unlocker and "delete on next boot" type utilities. Malware bytes antimalware cleaned it right off.

Agreed. Something isn't right. I've always been the only user on my pc, and even after formatting 2 times over the last year and a half, I can still do anything I want. Never had a problem with accessing anything at all.
Although, mine is a Retail full version, on a self built pc......not sure if that would make a big difference or not. I don't use branded pc's at all.
