Colors suddenly changed

When I log into my computer with my account, everything is fine. As soon as I switch users, all the colors get weird; the hues are off a bit for some reason. It is very noticable when it happens - everything suddenly gets a little greener. When I switch back to my account, the colors stay strange. The only way to get back to the original colors is to restart.

It seems like as soon as the settings for the new account are being loaded, the display changes. You would think that if it was a user specific setting, then when I switched back to my account, the colors would return to normal, but they don't.

Any thoughts?

I've checked the resolution and color profile, and they are the same for both accounts. I am at a loss as to why this is happening.

Thanks!!

The first thing that I would check is the driver for the graphics card. Make sure that it is up to date. Access via device manager. Update from the company website.
Once inside device manager, look for any yellow warning notices about problems.

Thanks for the reply.

That was one of the first things I did - the driver was up to date.

It is strange because whenever I boot up and log into my account, it is fine.

For some background, my computer has 2 accounts; mine and my wife's. When I switch to her account or log into that account first, the display suddenly changes; it always starts off normal after booting/restarting. Usually the change happens once the desktop is loaded - I can tell because there is a picture on the background of my wife's desktop that looks fine initially (a couple of seconds), but then changes to something a little bit off. The colors aren't terrible - just off. Occasionally, the change will occur earlier on the Vista backdrop soon after I enter the password but before the desktop is loaded.

I don't know what (if anything) changed to make this happen.

I tried toying around with the Color Management, but it doesn't seem to matter what profile I change to, nothing ever takes effect. I'm not sure if a restart is required when profiles change or if there is some other way to make profile changes take effect. From some quick reading, I think Color Management might only be applicable to certain applications, so I'm not sure that anything I try there will work.

Thanks

We have to be smarter than the computer. Open another user account for testing. Her account may be defective. If it is only a certain color scheme, maybe you should change to another.

How do you change the color scheme? If it is her account or the color scheme, then why doesn't it revert when I switch back to my account?

Edit - I looked up how to change the scheme and remember checking that last night - it is the same for both accounts as well; Aero. I will try with another account when I get home.

The problem is solved.

I found an NVIDIA control panel and went to "Adjust desktop colour settings". The values for my wife's account were different, so I changed them (Intensity and Gamma) and everything is now great again.

Thanks!!!
